All the info you’ll need for the Summer Show and more…
Summer Show
Save the date – the most colourful, sweetly scented extravaganza is back! Saturday 18 July. The show opens at 2.30pm, Mayfield Scout Hall, but we’d like you to enter as well of course! Bring your entries to the Scout Hall between 9.00 and 10.30, as judging starts at 11.00.
There will be people stationed at the entrance this year to help you offload your entries before you park.
Go on – you’ve got nothing to lose. It’s free to enter, free to come in and there are those delicious teas that the Friends of Mayfield Primary School provide as an added attraction. Schedules are available from the Post Office, Sew Inspired or The Flower House; also on-line on our website www.mayfieldhorticulturalsociety.org.uk.
There are plenty of classes on offer to suit the growers, the flower arrangers, the cooks, the crafters and the photographers. We get huge delight to see someone new win a rosette or a cup. You can be one of them. Love making a Victoria Sponge? – then find the recipe in the schedule and make one!
Remember the “Knobble of Knees” from last year? Well, it’s the lively, luscious, lavender, locomotion, lop-sided, leaning and lethargic letter “L” this year! There are loads more – what can you think of and this is “The People’s Choice” category – you vote for the winner. Email your photographs to us by Sunday 5th July and we’ll print them for you at no charge to you (please see schedule for full details).
Please encourage your children, grandchildren, next door children to enter. Why not encourage them to make a miniature garden - it’s in any container (as long as it’s not gigantic!) or draw a picture. Enter the giant sunflower competition.
See you there!

Borde Hill Outing Review
It was a pretty soggy day for our outing to Borde Hill on 3rd June, but 25 members braved the monsoon weather and the gardens still managed to look beautiful despite the rain as we enjoyed a tour from the Head Gardener Mark Bobin.
Borde Hill is home to 99 champion (extra large) trees, the most in any private garden in England and well worth a visit.
The rose garden in particular looked spectacular and there were several stunning Cornus in full flower.
We all enjoyed a hot drink and something to eat afterwards while we dried out!
Many thanks to Suzanne Bowe for organising the day!
